Healthy Substitutes

Love pasta? Love biscuits? Love a sweet treat?

Yeah, me too. Here’s the thing, you don’t have to give ANY of those things up. Moderation still, sure. But there are lots of easy swaps to enjoy your favorite meals and not consume lots of empty calories that leave you hungry shortly after.

Here are a few of my typical swaps:

Instead of using enriched flour, try swapping for almond flour. Typically it swaps at a 1:1 ratio. Baking can be different, but for recipes like meatballs or chicken parmesan that call for breadcrumbs, try almond flour instead.

Instead of enriched pasta or even typical gluten free pasta, try Banza chickpea pasta. It is LOADED with protein and fiber, which means less net carbs.

Instead of sugar - try Swerve. Made with Erythritol that does not spike your blood sugar or insulin levels which can cause an inflammatory response to your body which leads to a whole slew of other issues. Be careful though, some seemingly better options like some Stevia packets contain dextrose, which causes the same response in your body as sugar. READ LABELS! I swap this 1:1 in my baking or if I am making an asian sauce that calls for brown sugar.
